We now have a facebook page!
Check it out here: http://goo.gl/a0cYk5 This page will be used to post when new blog posts are up or just post random tid-bits that don't make for a whole blog post. Follow along. :) -Alex Week two update!! What did I do??
I sat in class today, and for a while wasn't quite sure what to do. At first I started with the idea of writing to prisoners asking about the "whys" of their crimes, but I read all over that, that is not a good idea. I'll probably still end up writing one - not like they have to respond. I decided to research a well-known criminal, Phil Spector. Why? I just needed a place to start. I probably should have started with more psychology, but I decided to start with a murder. Phil Spector (The Man in the top photo), was charged for the murder of Lana Clarkson in 2003. The trials went on till around 2009 when he was finally put in jail. I read multiple articles about this incident, and about Spector himself. Spector was a music producer, working with famous bands from the Ronettes to the Beatles. I also watched a video of Spector discussing rumors of his accusations, which was interesting because you could tell he was not quite in the best state of mind. I also watched a documentary on the murder, where Spector had claimed famous actress Clarkson came into his home and shot herself with no explanation. There were many pieces of evidence, some being blood all over the house and a bloody, soaked, diaper. I haven't learned much of the psychology behind it, I can't find anything about his psychology. He was very successful in the music industry, and was married. Of course there are probably hidden beasts, but I haven't learned those yet. I think next week I'll look more into the psychology of criminals instead of focusing on one criminal. I'm not insanely happy with my progress this week, so I'll change what I do next week. More research on the psychology, because as much as murder is fun to read about, I didn't quite learn what I wanted. Tune in next week. -Alex If you want to watch the videos I watched, here are the links Phil Spector Discussing "Rumors" Documentary on Phil Spector's Murder And if you're curious what music Spector produced here are some examples: 20 Greatest Hits Hello there! This post is mainly for those curious about how my class has decided to do 20% time for the next eight weeks.
This is the first time my English teacher has attempted this {Find her on twitter here}. She actually worked with my mom to figure out exactly how this would work out {Mom's twitter here}. So far we haven't officially started this. I'm not quite sure when we do, I think it's next Friday (the 6th). I think I may be one of the only people posting on my blog already, how funny. To begin this project we had to first figure out what we are going to do, and she {my teacher} posted on her website, on the page specifically for this project, {Here} different questions to spark ideas, examples, and even a pep talk video. Seriously, feel free to check it out. Also, feel free to check out the questions we needed to answer in order to have our idea approved for this project (Here) {That one is mine filled out} I'd post the link to other students in my class's projects but as I stated before I think I'm the first to begin this, I've heard so much about this project from people on Twitter, and I'm excited to try it out and document my progress along the way with you guys who read my blog. Still not sure what 20% time is? Read this article. I hope you all enjoy following me for the next eight weeks. -Alex |
